- in the preoperative phase, confirm the surgical indications by providing the appropriate explanations about the operation and its risks
- in the postoperative phase, provide continuity of care through periodic follow-up

The execution of this examination does not include preparation rules.

The cardiac surgery examination consists of the following phases:
- collection of patient anamnesis
- physical examination of the cardiovascular system
Additional diagnostic tests may be required.
